The various buildings of the Launay estate, of which the cottage is an integral part, began to be built in the 17th century and were originally a simple hunting lodge, before being transformed into a leisure property. The oldest buildings are the two pavilions of the courtyard as well as the central part of the main building. Several architectural modifications occurred subsequently in the 18th and 19th centuries, while preserving a harmony and unity of style on all the buildings.

Since the early 2000s, the Launay estate has hosted prestigious teams every year for the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as for the famous "Le Mans Classic" event and the French Motorcycle Grand [hidden] a bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor
